Artwork FAQs

Niggling artwork questions and queries. We've heard them all, but maybe you haven't. Here we go then!

Q. I am unsure what "print ready files" are. Can you explain?

A."Print ready files" are PDF'S / JPEGS / TIFF files of your artwork that have been set up in CMYK with bleed and crop marks; have been checked by yourself and are ready to go to print.

Q, I like the price, but require you to put a design together for me. How long will it take to get the job printed ?

A. It will normally take 4 to 5 days to produce proofs of designs for you to choose from – taking into consideration you've given us a specific brief about what want. Subsequent to you approving a chosen design that requires no further amends, you can view the turnaround clock to see print schedules for your order.

Q. How can I send my artwork files?

A. Various methods really. You can either use our upload facility or you can send in disc format, or if the file is small enough, via e-mail. The choice is yours.

Q. Someone else has produced my artwork, will it be ok for printing?

A. On this one you'll have to ask the person or company who produced it. Does it meet our requirements ? Is it "print-ready"? To understand that view our artwork requirements page and see if it fits our criteria. Alternatively, we can do this for you via LeafletCare. This is a full pre-flight check on your artwork to ensure there is nothing wrong with the document you've supplied to us and is set up correctly to print as intended.

Q. Can you explain more about setting up colours for print?

A. Yep. When setting up CMYK colours on any leaflets or flyers, just make sure that no area of colour has an ink coverage exceeding our 240% limit. You can easily check for this by selecting any colours you have used, and viewing their individual CMYK percentages. If the values of C + M + Y + K is totalling more than 240%, then this colour can cause problems with the print process and will affect the quality of your job. If you're still not sure, just call us and we can talk you through it.
